Getting Organized

Some things in my life I have been way too lackadaisical about lately. My main Zazzle store, JessicaInSeattle, for instance has needed a major facelift for about two years now! Okay, I agree, that can not reasonably be defined as "lately". But I have been meaning to get to it lately and I have been procrastinating worse than I ever have before!

Why I have procrastinated is the million dollar question. I haven't the slightest clue. I have, however received some fantastic motivation from my girlfriend and also from fellow Zazzlers. Yes, we call ourselves "Zazzlers". Geeky isn't it? And I kind of love it. It's just geeky and ridiculous enough that I really enjoy being referred to by the title.

Okay, that was a little bit off topic. I'm channeling my inner a.d.d. child today.

So, I did a little bit of organizational work on my store today and I think it's coming along...SLOWLY!!! Oh. My. God. Has there ever been a more tedious job! Yes, yes, I'm sure you can think of one. But we aren't here chit chatting about you now, are we?

I now have several categories on my page that are entirely (or mostly) empty and will require deletion when I am finished. And I have a whole hoard of new categories that are filling up quite nicely, if I do take a moment to toot my horn here and I believe I have full right to do that. So, there. It has been tooted!

And now, I take my deep breath, shrugging my shoulders with the incredible inhale and letting them fall back to natural with the overly dramatic exhale as I struggle with getting my brain to focus on what the hell it had planned for me to write next. But alas, I have lost it.

So, I shall, instead take this as a sign that I am most definitely in need of some herbal tea, melatonin, a hot bath and the last few pages of my current book.

Good night to you all...and may you dream of gumdrops and sugar plum fairies...just don't get any of them stuck in your hair!

Where for art thou, Sandman?

I have now been up for almost a full 36 hours. I was able to sneak in a 50 minute nap at one point. The bags under my eyes are deep and grey and when I look in the mirror, I see a sunken gauntness closely resembling Death warmed over. It does happen to be October, so I might be able to get away with this look for a few more weeks, but I'd really rather not.

I need my Sandman (can I request a Sandwoman?). Ah, yes, the ramblings of delirium. I shall leave this up even after I've had enough sleep and I read it over again realizing I was tapping out drivel on the edge of the cliff of dream deprivation.

I'm so tired I can't tell if that last sentence sounds poetic or pathetic. I'm going to bet on pathetic because I seriously doubt that I can be poetic with so little mind left. And I have come to the resounding conclusion that dreaming is a bodily necessity. Okay, not exactly. I might look like Death, but I'm nowhere near it. I'm well fed, watered and can still stand up straight, albeit with a slight lilt that portends a wont of drunkenness.

Portends? Wont? Where do I get these words of old? Of that, I am not certain. What I am certain of, however is that my soul is elder to by body. My soul feels as though it hath lived a thousand years and the desire to follow the path of love, hope and prosperity is strong in her. Which is why, I believe, I have followed my true self finally and fallen in love with the one who has stolen my heart from me. She walks on the path of hope and I walk beside her on the path of prosperity. Together we create the path of love.

Damn, I do ramble. I shall get a laugh out of this in a day or three. And now I've gone all mushy on top of it!

Time to go bathe Elektra and then read to the kids (The Hobbit is a little over half way done now). Then, in half an hour, I will shower, dry, and take some melatonin.

I have gotten to a point of sleep deprivation now, where if I don't take a sleep aid, I will lie awake for hours again.

Here I am Sandwoman, blow your sleep dust in my eyes and take me to dreamworld!

Babies, Kids and Mom

I co-sleep with my 14 month old daughter. She is a great snuggler when she is first falling asleep. But once she is out, she rolls over and proceeds to take up as much room as possible in the same position one would use to make a snow angel.

So, I scoot over to my edge of the bed as she sprawls out in the middle and kicks any form of sheet or blanket off her and me. I wrestle with staying covered as she wrestles with staying uncovered.

She is still nursing, so three to four times every night, I hear her fuss and I roll over to nurse her.

There is a form of sleeping that once you become a mother, you can accomplish. It consists of closing your eyes and looking and sounding like you are sleeping, but still being able to feed a hungry baby, rub the hurting belly of your sick child or even get up and get a drink of water and take a potty break. All the while, still getting something akin to sleep...cause we all know mom's don't really sleep. ;)

Mom's are special people. But children are even more so. My baby daughter is so special, that I happen to know it's her nap time at daycare when I can barely keep my eyes open while sitting in front of my computer at work.

As I talk with people at my work, my teenage daughter comes up in conversation easily with people who I had no idea had children 18 seconds before I met them.

I have begun listening to the music my teen son and daughter listen to so I could have an idea of what today's teens are listening to, and I find myself liking it.

My 7 year old pops into my thoughts at least 14 times every day. Sometimes it's 14 times every hour. Any ideas on how to get a child to eat a meal when he thinks eating is something you do with food sitting in your cheek?

Whoa there, I just got sidetracked. You see, this post was supposed to be about how my co-sleeping daughter is causing massive sleep deprivation which is affecting my ability to focus or even stay awake during daylight hours for that matter; therefore, I am considering moving her to her crib which is in a room on the other side of the house.

I can't tell if that is a bad idea or not because I need to repair about 15 years of sleep deprivation.

I need to edit that last sentence, but I'm so tired, I can't tell what needs fixing.
